Sometimes you look at the pile of debt in front of you, and you’re just tired. All you can think is “I’m never gonna get this paid off”. But you know what? Chances are that you can. The vast majority of people can if they stick with it, and you are probably not the exception.

Typically, there are three points at which you might feel like you’re never going to get out of debt: 

  • When you’re just getting started in the process,

  • When you’ve been struggling to get out of debt for a while without making much progress,

  • And when you’re on the homestretch and that last big debt just seems to be taking forever.

Are you living in a house of cards?

According to the 2012 “Getting Paid in America” survey, approximately 68% of respondents said that it would be either “somewhat difficult” or “very difficult” to meet their current financial obligations if their next paycheck were delayed for a week.

That’s what’s called living paycheck-to-paycheck. It’s also why affordable monthly payments are an oxymoron. It’s like living in a house of cards that could collapse at any moment. I’ve been there, and it’s not fun. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Read the rest of this entry

Bankruptcy and Debt:  You Can Come Out Stronger in the End

Wherever you look online, you are sure to find many resources who have the steps and tools you need to get out of debt. While I am sure that they are able to help you out, I wonder if they really understand the toll debt can take? Have they been there? I wonder even more so if they know what bankruptcy feels like. I am not sure that I feel I can relate to anything they say as they are not me.

You see, I am one of those people. I’ve declared bankruptcy. My husband and I have even paid off our current debt with blood, sweat, tears — and LOT of determination. I am sharing my story with you to let you know that there are people who get it.
